You can search for Unsplash images directly within your website’s image blocks as well.
For images uploaded externally, make sure you resize them to under 500KB (see SEO tips below).

SEO

search engine optimisation

There are some simple SEO best practices that can make a big difference to your site traffic over time. Here are the main ones, and please see the Squarespace SEO Guides below for more details:

  1. Images Size: Images should be no bigger than 500KB for optimal loading speed and Google ranking. Big banner images should be 2500px wide. Bulk Resize Photos is a great site for reducing image sizes while retaining quality. You can drag in a batch of images to save time. Unsplash images that you source directly within your site’s images are automatically resized.

  2. Keywords: Using keywords will help Google know that your page is relevant. The trick is simply to think about what keywords your ideal person is Googling to find that particular page / image. You can use keywords in:

  • Image titles

  • Page titles / descriptions / URLs (Page Settings > General)

  • Headers

  • Blog: title / ‘tags’ section / url slug

    • SEO Site Description (Marketing > SEO)

3. Share, share, share! The more you share your site, the more people will visit it, the more Google will think of you! So don’t hold back. C x
